Sungkai is a small town located in Perak. Driving from KL, it takes about 2 hours via highway. It’s nice for a half day trip with delicious lunch, especially their fresh river fishes~!

The Ruhr industrial area was Germany’s coal-mining region. The Ruhr Area forms one of the largest conurbations in Europe. Now this area is known for the cultural landscapes. Especially Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex is the most attractive and amazing place to visit.
Oberhausen is also one of the biggest industrial city in those days, and now it’s know as a host of film festival. We visited the bunker museum it is opened to public only on Wednesday.
Kaiserpfalz Kaiserswerth has the castle ruin which built in 12th century beside the Rhine River, in Düsseldorf. Nearby there is a small town which called Kaiserswerth. You can enjoy market, cafe, and jalan jalan in the old town. カイザープファルツ・カイザースヴェルトは、12世紀頃ライン川の畔に建てられた城、現在は城壁を少し残す城跡です。近くには古くて小さな町があり、通りで開かれる市場やカフェでのお茶を楽しんでみてはいかがでしょう。

The old town in Bonn
You may think wasting of your time, but driving along the Rhine River to Bonn is much more fun! You’ll see a lot of small wine villages which producing nice wine. You can buy them at the small shops on the road. While you enjoy driving the country road, you’ll see busy part of the Rhine River. Huge tankers pass by in the river, often long cargo trains join your touring, sometimes big and slow lorry disturbs your way…
Bonn is the former capital of Germany until 1990, and now it’s known as a hub of commerce and culture. It’s renowned birthplace of Beethoven and HARIBO.

Walk around the old town, the Romanesque cathedral called Bonn Minster, the rococo-style Old Town Hall called Altes Rathaus Bonn, the Electoral Palace which is the University of Bonn now.
Drive toward south on route 9, you’ll reach to Andernach. It is a small but very old town surrounded by fort. The castle Gate built in 1200-1220 welcome you, let’s explore the pretty town!

Mainz is also historical town beside the Rhine River. It’s the capital and largest city of the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate.
It’s very convenient access from the air port, Flughafen Frankfurt am Main. Only 30mins drive from here. That’s why, we stay this town on the first and the last day in Germany.

Driving route & tips
Of course you can go back to Nürburgring instead of Mainz. From Kaub or Mainz it takes 1hour and half to Nürburgring.
Cochem is located between a hill and the Moselle river. It’s a historical town with half timbered houses and Medieval walls. It’s so beautiful, and you’ll feel like stepped into the world of Grimm’s fairy tales…
It’s known as a place where producing excellent wine called Moselle wine. You should have some wine from there.
The original Cochem Castle built prominently on a hill 300 feet above the Moselle River, served to collect tolls from passing ships, before its destruction by the French in 1689.
Over the years, Cochem Castle today is not the originally stood there in the 12th century, but it’s like a castle museum. You’ll learn the local history and you can see a lot of interesting antiques, hidden room like “Ninja house” and so on, with 40 mins English guide tour.
Even if you decide to skip the tour, you should walk up to the top of the hill. You’ll find the amazing scenery from there. It takes about 20 minutes from the center of town.
The round journey starts from Cochem, Reichsburg castle, pass through some small villages Brauselay, Valwig and Ernst surrounded by Vineyards. It takes about 1 hour.

Driving to Phitsanulok. This town has a lot of historical places to see. I’ll come back here again, unfortunately there was no time to stay longer here this time.

11 & 12 th: Kept driving and driving! Reached the border, but I was too tired to cross it. I didn’t want to drive at night as well. I decided to rest first, crossed the border next day. Then, finally reached to my sweet home, well done my Jimny the 5,000km++ road trip!
