5 th: When I visit Bangkok, I must go to this Khao Man Gai shop. After the delicious chicken rice, I drove up all the way to north. It’s small but historical town…

Last Chinese New year (2023), I’d done a road trip with my family, KL – Surat Thani – Chumphon – Prachuap Khiri Khan – Hua Hin – Bangkok – Ranong – Phuket – Krabi – Trang – Hat Yai – KL.
Total driving distance was 3,523km (Thailand 2500km, Malaysia 1000km). It was so much fun, I decided to do it again…, but with a crazier idea this time, driving to the northern most of Thailand and the Golden Triangle…

Jimny with Chicken and Aunties at Pantai Bagan Nakhoda Omar
There is an uncle who serves ”Ding Bian Hu”, I always visit for breakfast in Sitiawan was closed today…
So we went to another favorite noodle shop at Kampung Koh. Their Kamupua Mee and Lu Lak(卤叻=Loh mee +Laksa mix)are very tasty. Especially their garlic vinegar is matching any kind of noodle~!

I like noodles made in Sitiawan very much. Visit noodle factory around 11am, you can see their working process. It’s delicate and beautiful.
Sitiawan is the food heaven for me. You’ll find variety of Fuzhou dishes here.
This time we do not have enough time, but never missed to get Gong Pian! Just baked, fresh out of the pot like tandoor, it’s crunchy and delicious. If you are Tiktoker, you should try it.
Drove to south, heading to our hometown Kuala Lumpur. We used new bridge which opened 1st of June, called Bagan Datuk Bridge across Perak River 1.5km-long.
Bagan Datuk village is very colourful. There is a floating mosque and jetty.

Droved along Rout 5, near Teluk Intan Industrial area. We found a bakery’s sign board. ”What? Is there bakery like this place??” We stopped by and got into the shop…
Wah~! So nice!! This Danish bakery was founded in 1982 by the palm oil plantation company. It still keeps maintaining their breads quality by the master baker from Denmark.
We bought breads, cakes and cookies… Yes!! They are very tasty and I need to come back again for the freshly baked pastries!
Before got dark, we finally reach to Sekinchan Selangor. Got dark around Kapar and Klang.
Our Jimny’s window is loose, we can smell outside air… Start from Kapar, the air quality was horrible… Not only because of haze, also got strong chemical smell…
A lot of cars passing by and speeding. Even it is large road, it was too dark. Not enough lights is dangerous I thought, it not only for cars, also for human walking there.
When we got into Federal rout 2, suddenly it became bright and no smells… The haze was still there though…
We were back to Kuala Lumpur at 9:20pm safely. Well done Jimny & chicken and Japanese Aunties~!

Perak Museum in Taiping
We had a brunch at Lian Thong Restaurant which is the traditional Hainam kopi tiam in Taiping.
We ordered Bomb Mee and Prosperous Mee. Both noodle’s soup are starchy sauce, mild and gentle taste we love it.
The uncle served us are so kind and friendly. We like almond tea so ordered 2 cups each and my favorite Hor Ka Sai ice. Then, the uncle whispered us, “Do you know the almond tea smells like cockroach?” We asked him ”Is it? You meant not recommend it to us?” He replied, ”It’s good, good for health!”
When it was served, straight away we smelled it…. Nothing, it’s rich flavor of almond tea… Even if it smelled like cockroach, we do not know because we’ve never smelled cockroach… We laughed until tears come out, why he said like that…
The black vinegar served with Prosperous Mee is super nice~~! At the beginning enjoy the original taste, then add the vinegar, we could taste 2 types of soup~!
Whenever I visit Taiping, I always stop by the Galeri Penjara Taiping. This time they didn’t have much products, but sometimes you can find Malaysian craft with affordable price.
Then we visited Perak Museum which is the oldest and the first museum in Malaysia built in 1883.
